A patch test is a method used to determine whether a specific substance or product causes allergic inflammation to a person’s skin. Any individual suspected of having allergic contact dermatitis or atopic dermatitis or history of same needs patch testing. when they get a new product. Patch testing just means you use a small amount on part of the product on your skin to see how you react.
Put a small amount of the product on your inner arm usually the wrist area Your inner arm is a good place to test because generally that skin is sensitive. It won’t be too noticeable if you do have a reaction. Usually apply with a cotton bud and leave for 24 hours to see reaction. Then test a more sensitive area. If no reaction this is a good indicator that the product is safe for you to use
